ALMOST THERE!
ALMOST THERE!
People ask me how I organize my files for DJ’ng all the time. Here I show you that I really don’t… iTunes does.
What you want to do is open iTunes, click on Edit on the tool bar. Now click on Preferences.
Once that menu pops up, click on the advance button (it looks like a gear).
From there you’ll see a “iTunes Media folder location” You can change this to whatever drive you want. On some computers I use that have 2 hard drives I have the folder on the second hard drive. This makes it easier for me to pop in a new drive and takes less resources off the operating system hard drive.
Now click “Keep iTunes Media folder organized” and “Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library”
You honestly don’t have to click the first one, what that does is organizes everything in to sub folders in the file system. I do it so I can easily pull one artists tracks from the file explorer.
The second is copying it to your main iTunes folder. When you download music it usually goes in to some random folder or wherever your browser downloads files to. Open that folder and drag and drop the files in to iTunes. Wait for all the files to copy, while they’re still in the process of copying all the tracks will be light gray. When everything changes to black you know it’s all copied. You can now delete the files from your generic download folder.
Now you’re all good to go.
