Scratchlive 2.0

That’s right, I said Scratchlive 2.0 and not Serato 2.0. This is because Serato itself is not a program. So many people ask me “Do you have Serato 2.0″ and I think to myself “what the hell is Serato 2.0?”

Anyway, going over the feature set of SCRATCH LIVE 2.0 I see many people concerned with the auto sync features and being able to use 4 decks. To me that’s all tom foolery. What do I care about auto sync and 4 decks? If you can mix you don’t really need the sync feature since scratch live is already so easy to use. 4 decks? Who cares? You have the bridge anyway. What is the point of having 4 decks when you’re able to sync with Ableton live already via the bridge… OH, I know why. People are too cheap to buy Ableton live. Nevermind.

You’re going to tell me that it has effects and such. I DON’T CARE. I am not a knob twisting fool that dramatically turns knobs to use effects such as you barns do that use Pioneer 800 mixers.

The only real STANDOUT feature of 2.0 to me would be The Bridge. The 2 way sync between Scratch Live and Ableton Live is amazing. Being able to control Ableton Live via Scratch Live is one thing, but the editable mixtape feature of the bridge is outstanding. Not only are you able to record your Scratch Live set in to Ableton but it seperates tracks and tracks fader movement (if you have a 57SL mixer or a 68.) Don’t like that scratch you did on there? Take it out. Messed up on part of the mix 34 minutes in? Edit it.

I never multi-track mixes but there have been times where I have a slight discrepancy in a mix 43 minutes in and it’s either start over or just hope nobody hears it. With The Bridge I can just fix it. This is the most innovative DJ software product that has come out in a while and I’m glad to see it.

All of you that are worried that sync features and such are going to make it easy for beginners need to calm down. The fact of the matter is that no matter what, the computer does not determine song selection. Sync is not always going to be 100 percent accurate and will mess up someones set. ANY computer WILL crash (where the hell is your vinyl?) Music theory is studied and not built in to a program. Oh, and most importantly… FUCK YOU, YOU CAN’T DO WHAT I DO!
